March Madness means we’ll soon have a Sweet 16, Elite 8 and Final Four. To those iconic counts, you can add the Scintillating Six. In its sophomore season, the Hot Shots parts competition has been whittled down to six finalists vying for two prizes that will be decided by you, our Plastics Technology readers. Check out the finalists now, and vote on which part(s) best satisfy the requirements for our two awards — Technical Sophistication and Achievement in Molding Efficiency/Economics.

Ranging from end markets as diverse as automotive, medical, appliance, food service and firefighting, our finalists come in an assorted array of polymers: PP, PMMA, PPE/PP, ABS, PC and a PP overmolded with an elastomer. Foaming, insert molding, and overmolding are applied, and in some cases they’re used in newly patented and patent-pending ways. The finalists reduced material usage, cycle times, secondary operations and more.

Who will be the winner(s) of the 2023 Hot Shots part competition? Apply your expertise and vote today. The winner will be announced at 3 pm CDT on March 29 during the PTXPO (March 28-30; Donald E. Stephens Convention Center; Rosemont, Ill.) If you’re at PTXPO come see the parts in person in the front of Hall A.
