Switzerland-based Maag (U.S. operation in Charlotte, N.C.), a manufacturer of gear pumps and pelletizing and filtration systems, has had a busy season. In October, it agreed to acquire Gala Industries Inc., Eagle Rock, Va., a manufacturer of underwater pelletizers and centrifugal pellet dryers. Then early last month it announced the purchase of another maker of pelletizing systems (as well as pulverizers), Reduction Engineering Scheer Inc., which has plants in Germany and Kent, Ohio. Maag already has strong position in underwater pelletizers (tradenamed Automatik) and centrifugal dryers. All three companies will maintain their existing brand identities.
