MAXICONE, the 5- to 7-layer die launched by W&H is making the grade in customer satisfaction, with reports of reduced changeover times upwards of 80% on the many systems sold and installed in the field. Its high level of flexibility also leads to increased output rates in the production of barrier films and polyolefin structures. It is MAXICONE’s compact die design that attributes to these short changeover times. To put in perspective: MAXICONE is approximately half the size of previous die concepts. Featuring the patented conical distributor system, the die structure is the smallest known on the market in regards to melt capacity. MAXICONE’s new die concept creates the following advantages: - Minimum product change and purge times - Long, uninterrupted production periods - Minimum pressure loss of melt flows in conjunction with high output - Tight tolerances - Superb optical properties Customers can test their material using MAXICONE technology on a 7-layer VAREX® blown film line at W&H’s Technology Center in Lengerich, Germany.
