BASF Launches New ‘Valeras’ Brand Sustainable Plastic Additives Platform
The Valeras portfolio included BASF’s plastic additives that enable customers to achieve their sustainability goals.
A new global plastic additives portfolio brand name has been launched by BASF for its plastic additives that enable users to meet their sustainability goals. According to communications spokesperson Lillian Hoh at BASF’s performance chemicals, Europe, the Valeras portfolio includes BASF’s existing plastic additives that make a substantial sustainability contribution in the value chain. “ BASF uses a methodology--Sustainable Solution Steering, to systematically review and evaluate the sustainability aspects of all relevant product applications in the company’s portfolio. The portfolio will continuously evolve to meet customer needs and later this year will expand to include additive packages for mechanically recycled plastics and their applications.”
BASF performance chemicals president Thomas Kloster holds rolls of agro films stabilized by Tinuvin NOR 356, a thermal stabilizer that contributes to resource efficiency and is part of new portfolio of Valeras sustainable additives.
Initially, the company has bundled its most sustainable products—such as its well-regarded and extensive range of Tinuvin UV and thermal stabilizers on a single platform. As, such the evolving Valeras portfolio is designed to allow for resource-efficient use, extended product lifetimes, and more reusable materials and additives for recycled plastics.
Said president of BASF’s performance chemicals Thomas Kloster, “The trend towards sustainability has been accelerating, driven by consumer demand and more stringent legislation. Our customers are facing increasing pressure regarding sustainable innovations and challenges of plastics recyclability.
