The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) hosts its first ever community service event at NPE2024. The initiative, in partnership with Alliance Specialties and Laser Sales and U.S. Hunger will offer NPE2024 attendees an opportunity to volunteer with industry professionals while making a difference in the fight against hunger.

“Orlando has consistently proven itself to be an outstanding host for NPE and with appreciation, the plastics industry looks forward to the opportunity to give back,” says Whitney Taveras PLASTICS director of industry engagement (equipment). “We are excited for this partnership and to host this event as our industry is dedicated to supporting local communities and encourage all NPE participants to attend or donate to U.S. Hunger. We’re happy to participate in the packaging of essential meals for the community, especially as plastic material protects and preserves food better than any other material, ensuring that more people can get the nutrition they need.”

NPE is the main event for leaders in the plastics industry worldwide. “NPE is the largest plastics trade show in the Americas, and it provides a great opportunity to do something amazing for the community of Orlando,” says Tony Demakis, president of Alliance Specialties and Laser Sales. “The reality of many attendees coming together and giving their time to serve and care for others can change lives forever.”

U.S Hunger is a hunger relief organization with innovative programs designed to help feed the 1 in 4 people struggling with food insecurity. “There’s nothing stronger than people coming together to help their neighbors in need,” says Rick Whitted, CEO of U.S. Hunger. “We’re thankful to the Plastics Industry Association for joining in and packing 20,000 meals for the community. It shows just how much we can do when we all pitch in.”

The NPE2024 community service event aims to pack 20,000 meals which will all be donated to the local Orlando community. The event is being held on Wednesday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST in the West Building, Meeting Room, W208C and is open to all NPE2024 attendees. Attendees unable to participate but are still interested in supporting this event can click here to donate. All funds raised directly support this initiative and its impact.
