Two new anti-hydrolysis additives designed for use with nylons, polyesters and urethanes in automotive, industrial and medical products that have a high possibility of exposure to moisture are newly available from Massachusetts-based CAI Performance Additives. The company is the sole distributor in North America for a broad portfolio of high-performance additives produced by China’s Starbetter Chemical Materials

Due to their reportedly superior resistance to hydrolytic damage, proprietary anti-hydrolysis additives ST-HT10 and ST-HT13 are said to offer long-term durability. ST-HT10 is a higher-performing polymeric version, and ST-HT13 is a monomeric version based on the same chemistry. ST-HT10, for example, shows superior protection from degradation over a 60-day period in nylons. Said CEO Richard Marshall, “The data shows how effective this additive is. Water resistance is important for so many products, and we want to give our customers anti-hydrolysis capabilities they can count on.”  In addition, ST-HT10 and ST-HT13 have extremely low dosing, such as 0.3%.
