Ejector Pins Boost Venting, Eliminate Gas Traps
Next Chapter Manufacturing says its InnoVent pins, which will debut at PTXPO, are capable of venting 10 to 15 times more gas than traditional ejector pins without clogging.
Next Chapter Manufacturing is introducing its InnoVent Pins, which allow injection molders to vent the part, not the line, at the Plastics Technology Expo (Booth 1119; Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, Rosemont, Ill.; March 29-31). Next Chapter says the InnoVent pins are capable of venting 10 to 15 times more gas than traditional ejector pins without clogging.
Next Chapter says InnoVent Technology is hot swappable with standard ejector pins and does not require any mold modifications. The company says that even with abrasive resins, InnoVent Pins result in less wear and tear on the mold compared to conventional ejector pins.
For a mold experiencing gas traps, Next Chapter says swapping out just one standard ejector pin with an InnoVent Pin can alleviate any venting issues. A complex mold that ordinarily requires 100 standard pins only needs two to three InnoVent Pins for a fully ventilated tool, according to Next Chapter.
As molders are tasked with running more recycled materials, which can create more off gassing, Next Chapter’s Jason Murphy says the InnoVent pins can provide a solution. “InnoVent Pins offer the opportunity to please customers by going green while simultaneously eliminating gas trap-related scrap, cutting energy costs, making recycled resins more viable, and increasing profits,” Murphy said.
