SolidCAM and Desktop Metal Expand Partnership
The CAM software supplier will now act as a sales partner for the maker of metal and polymer additive manufacturing equipment in the U.S., U.K., Israel and India.
Metal additive manufacturing equipment supplier Desktop Metal (Boston) has expanded its relationship with CNC software producer SolidCAM (Schramberg, Germany), with SolidCAM now representing Desktop Metal in the U.S., U.K., Israel and India.
SolidCAM has sold Desktop Metal products in Germany since 2021. Now, it will offer Desktop Metal equipment from the technology centers at its U.S. headquarters in Newton, Pa., and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., as well as its operations in the U.K., Israel and India. In all, SolidCAM has approximately 100 direct sales representatives worldwide.
Additionally, SolidCAM notes that its new CNC + AM Center of Excellence showrooms are currently being completed in Pennsylvania, Germany and the U.K. Additional facilities are also slated for completion in California, Israel and India.
In a release, Ric Fulop, founder and CEO of Desktop Metal noted the clout that SolidCAM has among the global machining community and the benefits AM technology can provide that communicty. “Additive manufacturing technology is truly complementary to machining,” Fulop said, “and we’re eager to deliver that message to the market in partnership with SolidCAM.”
SolidCAM noted that its Schramberg Technology Center has already added a Desktop Metal Studio System to its current stable of CNC machines, adding that the company is in the process of installing more Studio System and Shop System printers to its facilities worldwide.
SolidCAM will showcase Desktop Metal equipment in its booth at IMTS 2022 (Sept. 12–17, McCormick Place, Chicago; booth 134502). Desktop Metal will also have two booths at the show—(433103 and 432212)—where it will be showcasing its metal, polymer and digital metal-casting technologies.
Desktop Metal’s Studio System for additive manufacturing will now be sold in multiple locales by SolidCAM.
