Venture Plastics Inc., an ISO/IATF 16949-certified custom thermoplastic injection molder with facilities in Newton Falls, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, has invested in its Ohio plant with the addition of a 950-ton Nissei injection molding machine and Zeiss O-Inspect 543 coordinate measuring machine (CMM) inspection system.

The Nissei machine is equipped with a Yushin Automation robot and features a 600-L injection unit with a 112-mm screw and a 210-ounce shot capacity. Venture says the machine is designed to support customers in the power backup industry, among others. This newest machine brings the total number of presses in Newton Falls to 19, with clamp forces ranging from 55 to 1,440 tons.

On the quality control side, the company also invested in a Zeiss O-Inspect 543 multisensor CMM. This inspection device combines tactile probing with advanced optical measurement. The O-Inspect 543 can handle parts within a measuring range of 31.5 × 23.6 × 11.8".

In a press release, Venture Plastics’ Alan Schultice says the expansion enables the company to better serve growing demand, particularly in the battery sector, which is seeing rapid growth due to vehicle electrification and renewable energy advancements. Venture notes that last year its facility in El Paso installed a Zeiss Mass Accura CMM. Venture has an 82,000-ft.2 facility in Ohio, including 57,000-ft.2 dedicated to molding, engineering and sales operations, with the remaining space utilized for warehousing.
