General Polymers Thermoplastics to Further Expand Distribution Business
NPE2024: Following the company’s recent partnership buyout, new North American geographic territories are in its sight.
With the recent partnership buyout, CEO/president Gregory Boston is now 100% equity owner of General Polymers Thermoplastic Materials. General Polymers plans to open up new geographic territories as part of its North American commercial growth strategy. Says Boston, “We are so excited to be past the equity buyout process which has opened up a number of possibilities to move our business plan forward quicker through some interesting small acquisitions and/or commercial partnerships. This is one of the reasons it was important for us to support the plastics industry and be exhibiting at NPE2024. We are excited to talk to customers, suppliers and commercial staff looking for a new adventure with a growing distribution network.”
With the continuing acquisitions and mergers by “Big Box” distribution networks, large distribution networks continue to lose some of their focus. Sometimes too many suppliers and product lines lead to order taking versus development sales. Instead of focusing on volume-driven business, General Polymers is focused on being a value-driven, solution provider focusing on compounded and engineering resins. Says Boston, “General Polymers aligns market strategy to complement the supplier and support the needs of processors through a step back in time approach. Sometimes resin distributors make things more complicated for both customers and their own sales organization than they need to be. We don’t. I think many resin producers are wanting a simple, straight-forward focused approach from their distributor partners. We provide this and are honored to share our story in support of both current and possible new relationships.”
Additions to General Polymers North American partnerships include Polyplastics (POM, PBT, LCP, PPS) and Greco TPU, and via their recent compounding acquisition and entry to the marketplace; Taroplast (PP & PA compounds, TPV, & TPC (copolyester elastomer Riteflex). In addition, with the merger of Aurora & Enviroplast this past year, our relationships continue to grow stronger with the addition of the Aurora TPE product lines.
