LyondellBasell (LYB) is highlighting the latest advancements in its plastics portfolio for applications ranging from lightweight automotive components to durable packaging solutions as well as sustainable manufacturing practices and collaborative efforts toward a circular economy.
Visitors can explore innovative solutions designed to meet the evolving needs of today’s consumers while addressing environmental concerns. The company’s exhibit has five content islands showcasing end-use applications in five key areas:
- circularity
- mobility and transportation
- food and medical
- consumer goods/lifestyle
- infrastructure/building and construction.
Says Tracey Campbell, executive v.p. of sustainability and corporate affairs, “We are so excited to exhibit at NPE 2024 and share our latest innovations, and new brand look and feel with our customers and industry colleagues. At LYB, we are dedicated to creating solutions for a better tomorrow, and NPE provides an ideal platform to showcase our commitment to innovation, collaboration and environmental stewardship.”
In addition, LYB is hosting interactive, in-booth presentations to highlight the versatility, durability and sustainability of its products. These presentations, delivered by an LYB team of experts, feature the company’s wide range of products and applications, including PE, PP, advanced catalysts and specialty polymers.
LYB has also invested in bringing technology for the development of the latest advancements in masterbatch solutions to the Americas, complementing the company’s testing assets in Europe. The state-of-the-art KARO 5.0 laboratory stretching machine from Brückner Maschinenbau is the latest addition to the research and development capabilities offered at LYB’s technical center in Akron, Ohio. It is expected to greatly enhance the company's ability to develop and test masterbatch solutions for various oriented film applications.
The new equipment supports the company’s Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) and Olefins and Polyolefins (O&P) business segments in the Americas. Testing is already underway for a variety of applications, including protective films, food packaging and more. Its key features include:
- Multicast film capabilities that enable the testing of a wider range of masterbatch materials.
- Stretch capabilities in both the machine direction (MD) and transverse direction (TD) to accurately simulate real-world production conditions.
- Monitoring of various material characteristics like tension, elongation, torque, temperature and thickness to ensure optimal performance and quality control.
