Brentwood Acquires Enexio’s Water Technologies Business
The deal combines manufacturing capacity for plastics-based water and wastewater treatment products used within cooling towers.
Brentwood Industries Inc. (Reading, Pa.) has acquired Enexio’s Water Technologies business unit from Kelvion, with the Jan. 3, 2022 deal specifically including Enexio Water Technologies GmbH, Enexio Water Technologies s.r.o., Enexio UK Ltd., and Shandong Xinde Water Treatment Technology Co. Ltd. In a release, Brentwood said the acquisition provides added capabilities; increased worldwide sales and engineering presence; and new areas of expertise for Brentwood.
A Brentwood spokesperson told Plastics Technology that the acquisition will have a great impact on the company’s global presence water/wastewater treatment and cooling towers. “Both companies add complementary products and capabilities to the other that will strengthen our competitiveness in these markets, particularly in Europe,” the spokesperson said.
As a specific example, the spokesperson said the addition of Enexio adds the ability to thermoform polypropylene, which “will be a game changer for Brentwood in Europe, especially in the cooling tower market.” Brentwood fabricates the plastic components used inside the tower, including fill media, drift eliminators and inlet louvers.
Geographically, Brentwood will maintain its existing sites, and acquire from Enexio a manufacturing plant and sales office in Germany; a sales office in England; an assembly operation in the Czech Republic; and a joint venture manufacturing plant in China. In addition to PP processing, Enexio will provides Brentwood a platform to introduce its stormwater management products to the European market and cooling tower products to the Chinese market, as well as enabling Brentwood to enter the mass transfer industry.
