LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines has expanded its U.S. operations, opening a large-tonnage mold testing and tech center in Brownsville, Texas, and a parts and service center in San Diego. The company has also moved to a new headquarters in Duluth, Ga. In addition to these new sites serving North America, LS Mtron also has an existing Midwest Tech Center in Wood Dale, IIl., and a sales and service center in Querétaro, Mexico.
Peter Gardner, business director at LS Mtron Injection Molding Machines USA stated in a press release that LS Mtron shipped 284 molding machines to North America in 2021, and said the company is seeing increased demand for its machines, especially large-tonnage models. To meet this demand in a timely fashion, Gardner said LS Mtron has increased its machine and spare parts inventories, including stocking more than 40 molding machines with clamp forces up to 1400 tons.
The new LS Mtron Large Tonnage Tech Center in Texas is co-located with LS Mtron customer MVP Plastics. MVP will outfit its plant with additional machines that LS Mtron can use to run trials and production for its customers. MVP, which has facilities in Brownsville and Middlefield, Ohio, has 15 LS Mtron machines in its current fleet.
The new LS Mtron San Diego parts and service center has been opened to support the molding operations of LS Mtron’s customers along the U.S.-Mexico border. LS has also added an additional two service engineers to the San Diego location.
Finally, LS Mtron has moved its headquarters to Duluth, Ga. from its previous location in Peachtree Corners, Ga. The new 16,000-ft2 facility includes more office space, increased warehouse space for spare parts inventory, and a larger demonstration area for the injection molding machines. LS Mtron officials say the company has doubled the number of direct service technicians and the size of its spare parts stock inventory in the U.S. in the past two years.
