Minnesota Rubber and Plastics Opens Innovation Center
The plastics and rubber compounder and molder has opened the 9000-ft2 center that’s intended to help speed product development with design, prototyping, testing and production capabilities.
Quadion LLC, trade name Minnesota Rubber and Plastics, has opened a new innovation center adjacent to the company’s corporate headquarters in Plymouth, Minn. The 9000-ft2 facility features design, testing, moldmaking and injection molding capabilities, including five presses to give customers a design-prototype-build-test partner for new product introductions.
In an online presentation, CEO Jay Ward said the new facility for the company that’s been in business for 75 years came about because of customer interest. “Our customers wanted a collaborative partner that could help them bring their products to market faster,” Ward said, noting that the center’s opening was on time and on budget despite the supply chain challenges of the last few years.
The goal of the center is to speed new product development by making production intent prototypes using steel tooling that can mold functional prototypes of new products out of final materials.
