App Provides Key Information During Part Design
Xometry says Version 2.0 of its Autodesk Fusion 360 App provides designers pricing, lead times, manufacturability feedback and more during the part-design phase.
Xometry Inc., a digital marketplace for on-demand manufacturing, has introduced version 2.0 of its app for the Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD design platform. In addition to the instant price and lead-time functions launched earlier in 2021, Xometry says Version 2.0 now offers manufacturability feedback and multiple-part-upload features.
The manufacturability feedback tool can help engineers and designers improve a design while a part is being conceived in Fusion 360. Xometry says the ability to upload multiple parts allows engineers to price out and receive feedback on multiple parts at the same time. In this way, Version 2.0 can help engineers fast-track product iterations and react to real-time feedback.
In a release, Stephen Hooper, vp and gm Autodesk Fusion 360, described the potential benefits. “Providing our customers real-time insights through the Xometry app about the cost and feasibility of manufacturing a part, at the very moment they’re designing that part, is a huge step toward saving time that might otherwise be lost developing a flawed, unworkable or unaffordable design.”
Xometry offers a 10% discount on all custom part orders placed through the Autodesk Fusion 360 app in the U.S. The company is also introducing a European version of the app with multiple languages. The app is free and can be downloaded directly from the Autodesk Fusion 360 App Store.
