Configurable Roll Stack Has Small Footprint
An extension of the G-Series roll stand family comes with a variety of patented features.
Aimed at sheet processors with limited floor space, the eG-Series roll stand from Processing Technologies International, LLC (PTi) is said to be the most compact roll stand ever build by the company.
The new stand is part of PTi’s G-series family of configurable stacks and a number of patented technologies, notably the linear roll stand traverse; vertical nip-height positioning; chrome roll safety lock-out; and transfer roll-coating technology.
Obtaining exact sheet thickness and proper cooling is made possible via specifically engineered design of features that adjust temperature and positioning accordingly. Hydraulic and linear bearing supported roll actuation, with motorized gap positioning, provide ease in obtaining sheet thickness requirements. High precision spherical tapered roller bearings support chrome rolls for 0.0003 in.– 0.0005 in. total indicator reading (TIR) runout in the stand.
Moreover, the standardized open loop temperature control modules, for precise roll temperature set point maintenance, allow for dedicated heat and direct inject cooling for each chrome roll zone, with a maximum 200 gpm on middle chrome roll, and a maximum 130 gpm on primary and secondary nip chrome rolls.
In order to achieve a compact footprint, the eG-Series offers a streamlined version of the most pragmatic features within the G-Series. A linear rail sub-base system with integral floor levelers assists in proper alignment and positioning of the system. Consolidated routings for water, hydraulic, air, and electrical utilities eliminates the need for rear positioned energy tracks. A compact side car for temperature station and control cabinet is affixed to the frame, along with a compact conveyor arrangement and a fixed height-controls pendant reduces the overall layout and corresponding space requirements.
The new roll stand can be tailored to include the following equipment: roll skew, servo motorized gap, safety roll lock-outs, and eAntiSstat coater with one set of rubber covered squeegee rolls.
The roll stands are currently being offered in J-stack or vertical down configurations, with small- to medium-sized rolls ranging from 36 in. to 66 in. widths and roll diameters from 12 in. to 30 in.
