Performance Phosphite Antioxidant and Extended Service Life UVA for Polyolefins
NPE 2024: Songwon’s Songnox 9228 phosphite enhances resistance to oxidative corrosion while Songsorb 1164 UVA outperforms benzotriazoles.
Two new additives from Songwon have been developed to further enhance the performance of polyolefins over conventional products:
- Songnox 9228 AO is a secondary diphosphite-based antioxidant which is said to overcome the limitations of conventional phosphite or phosphonite AO products by enhancing the resistance of polyolefins to oxidative corrosion, especially at high processing temperatures. It also boasts excellent color protection in Cr-type HDPE, PP and engineering resins, and has been shown to blend well with primary antioxidants and other stabilizers.
As a modified version with a small fraction of tri-isopropanol amine, Songnox 9228T is said to bring these valuable performance features to Songwon’s solid phosphite product range which are well suited for masterbatch suppliers. Both AO grades are suited for a wide range of packaging, agriculture, building and construction as well as home and personal care applications.
- Songsorb 1164 UVA boasts extended service line and is one of the latest additions to Songwon’s UVA offering and is a complement its triazine-based UV absorbers for polymers portfolio. Compared to conventional benzotriazole products, it can extend the service life of end products made from polyolefins and engineering plastics exposed to outdoor weathering. Songsorb 1164 was specially developed to maximize the UV stability of polyolefins intended for use in food contact packaging applications.
