Twin-Screw Compounds Gently
Patented features allow material to be processed at low shear rates.
Patented features of the Bandera co-rotating twin-screw extruder allows material to be compounded at a very low shear rates. The extruders also provide a very efficient triple degassing of the melt, a very precise oil-thermoregulation of the extruder and a very gentle and precise mixing of nylon or EVOH with PE.
The combination of these characteristics produces a pellet that Bandera says can be easily processed on a blown film line with no unmelt, gels and quality problems that can be especially troublesome when stretching film to make it thinner
Bandera twin-screw extruders, when used for recycling/upcycling processes, utilize a microwave-based technology that helps to quickly remove of VOC residuals and odor.
Bandera will be participating at the Extrusion 2021 Conference, September 21-23, Rosemont, Ill.

Configuring the Twin Screw Extruder: Part 4
For many compounding operations, material is fed to the extruder at the feed throat. This is the case when feeding a single polymer or a blend of polymers mixed with solid additives. Some ingredients, however, present a challenge in feeding. Here’s how to solve to them.
