Ineos to Buy Mitsui’s Polyacrylonitrile Business
The leader in acrylonitrile copolymers buys another PAN business.
WEB EXCLUSIVE: Ineos Barex, part of Switzerland’s Ineos Group AG (U.S. office in League City, Texas), is in the process of acquiring the polyacrylonitrile (PAN) business of Japan’s Mitsui Chemicals. The acquisition, scheduled for completion Aug. 1, includes Mitsui’s PAN resin and Zexlon film and provides Ineos with a significant presence in Asia. Ineos is the leading supplier of PAN copolymers, sold under the Barex brand, primarily in Europe and North America. Barex products are substitutes for Mitsui PAN resin and Zexlon film products.
