The PTXPO trade show opens its doors to the plastics processing community later this month (March 28-30) at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. This second-ever PTXPO, presented by Gardner Business Media (GBM) and its Plastics Technology and MoldMaking Technology magazines, will feature more than 230 exhibitors at press time — and still counting — representing the entire plastics processing supply chain: resins/additives, injection molding, extrusion, thermoforming, blow molding, recycling, auxiliary equipment, components, training and other services, and more.

PTXPO was launched last year following a survey conducted by GBM that indicated a need for a North American-specific trade show in the Chicago area. The show will be annual, with the exception of years when the NPE is taking place. The next NPE show will be held May 2024 in Orlando, Fla.

The PTXPO show floor is organized into pavilions to make it easier for attendees to find who and what they are looking for: Injection & Blow Molding, Moldmaking, Extrusion & Thermoforming, Materials, Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing, Recycling, and Auxiliary Equipment.

The trade show floor is organized into pavilions to make it easier for attendees to find who and what they are looking for.

The two-and-a-half-day event will also feature a variety of free educational and networking opportunities to attendees. Some highlights:

 •  Two Tech Talk Theaters, one devoted to plastics processing and the other to moldmaking/molding

 •  Hot Shots 2023 injection molded parts competition to take place in the Injection Molding Pavilion. All attendees can vote for the two winners to be announced live during PTXPO.

 •  Live show floor demos will happen throughout the event; six demos on Day 1, five on Day 2, and two more on Day 3. Here is the schedule.

 •  TAPPI Film Extrusion Symposium: Film extrusion education sponsored by TAPPI will take place Wednesday, March 29 in the Plastics Processing Theater. Click here for the schedule.

 •  SPE Extrusion Division is sponsoring an educational program for Tuesday, March 28, 1-4 pm in Hall F and will have its own stage in the back of the hall. Click here for the schedule.

 •  Additive Manufacturing, Plastics Technology, Moldmaking Technology, Gardner Business Media, and the Formnext Forum will all be exhibiting at the show. The Formnext Forum is a new event aimed at driving industrial 3D printing innovation and growth in the Americas. The first one will be held in Austin, Texas, Aug. 28-30.

 •  Stop by the MoldMaking Technology booth to get your limited-edition 25th  anniversary t-shirt. These shirts will go fast, so don’t miss this opportunity.

 •  Live MoldMaking Technology Chats: Once you’ve picked up your t-shirt at the MMT booth, stick around and listen in on an MMT Chat at our in-booth studio. This will be hosted by MMT Editorial Director Christina Fuges.

 •  All attendees have access to and are encouraged to use the PTXPOasis to recharge, meet and refuel with water during the event.
