Mike Sepe

Well-known materials and processing consultant Mike Sepe, who contributes a monthly Materials Know-How column to Plastics Technology magazine, will share some of his 45 years of experience in plastics at a seminar to be presented by the Chicago Section of the Society of Plastics Engineers, Sept. 20-21 at the Holiday Inn Gurnee in Gurnee, Ill.

In the afternoon of Sept. 20 and morning of Sept. 21, Sepe will Speak on material selection, processing, properties and performance; differing approaches to materials by part designers, mold designers, and processors; improving molded part performance; solving part failures; and myths in the industry. He’ll address topics such as the importance of molecular weight and how to measure it; differences between semi-crystalline and amorphous resins from the point of view of part and tool designers and processors; “the mythology of over-drying” and how to properly measure moisture content.

This will be followed by a half-day on additive manufacturing (3D printing) materials and processes for both plastic parts and tooling inserts. Speakers will be Mike Vasquez of 3 Degrees Consulting, Charlie Wood of Fast Radius, Anthony Scola of Met-L-Flo, and Peter Kootstra of Re3DTech.
