Previero Acquires Mechanical Sorting Company
Merger will broaden the scope of the company's recycling offerings.
Ambienta announced that its platform company Previero, a manufacturer of recycling machinery, has acquired Parini, a developer and producer of mechanical sorting machines for waste recycling.
Founded in 1985 in Reggio Emilia, Italy, Parini specializes in the development and production of equipment for the mechanical separation of waste into various types, such as rigid plastics and films, as well as the removal of contaminants. Tightening regulations and brand commitments are expected to increase recycling rates and demand for recycled feedstocks, and mechanical sorting equipment is necessary to convert postconsumer and postindustrial waste into secondary feedstocks.

“I am thrilled to welcome Parini, one of our most trusted partners with whom we have cultivated a large-standing relationship,” says Giuseppe di Carpegna, Previero CEO. “We greatly value Parini’s exceptional technical expertise. This acquisition allows us to expand into the highly attractive sorting sector, further enhancing our turnkey solutions. It aligns perfectly with our top priority: delivering world-class, end-to-end solutions tailored to meet the diverse needs of our customers.”
According to Ambienta, more customers in the recycling market are seeking integrated players capable of delivering end-to-end solutions. The partnership with Parini will enhance Previero’s turnkey solutions by integrating additional technological capabilities along the recycling value chain. The acquisition marks Previero’s entry into the mechanical sorting sector through M&A, supporting Ambienta’s vision to position Previero as a global provider of integrated and sustainable recycling solutions. Ambienta acquired a majority stake in Previero in 2023.
“By merging our robust technical expertise with Previero’s exceptional R&D capabilities and market leadership, we are confident that this partnership will not only strengthen our platform across the plastics recycling value chain but also significantly elevate our integrated solutions, both within the plastics recycling sector and beyond,” says Fabio Parini, Parini general manager.

Recycling Terminology Can Be a Minefield, So We Should Tread Lightly
Loose propagation of terms like “recyclable” and “compostable” has already brought down government regulations on labeling. The plastics and packaging industries should take that to heart with other recycle-related language. Like “monomaterial” for example.
