Winners Announced for SPE Thermoforming 2023 Parts Competition
More than 30 entries were considered, including 10 in the Sustainability category.
The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Thermoforming Division has announced the winners of its biennial parts competition. The awards were presented during the Thermoforming Division’s conference, held October 23-26 in Cleveland.

This year’s winners are:
- People’s Choice: Profile Plastics, Lake Bluff, Illinois, for the Covers for Medical Part Product Application.

- Pressure Forming-Gold: Profile Plastics, for the Covers for Medical Part Product Application.
- Pressure Forming-Silver: Formed Plastics, Inc. for the Rail Support Chest Deck.
- Twin Sheet-Gold: Vantage Plastics, Standish, Michigan, for the Pallet and Lid.
- Twin Sheet-Silver: Duo Form, Edwardsburg, Michigan, for the Twin Sheet Door.
- Thin Gauge Medical-Gold: CMI Plastics, Ayden, North Carolina, for the Pharma Tray.
- 3D Printed Tooling-Gold: Duo Form, for the Wet Bath for Truck Camper.
- 3D Printed Tooling–Silver: Plastics Unlimited, Preston, Iowa, for the Agriculture Equipment Wheel Cover.
- Sustainable Thermoforming–Gold: Vantage Plastics for the Returnable Recyclable Shipping Tray.
- Sustainable Thermoforming–Silver: Good Natured Products, Brampton, Ontario, Canada, for the GoodGuard Tamper-Evident Containers.
- Electric Vehicle and Battery Applications-Gold. Electro-General Plastics, Grove City, Ohio, for the Ford Maverick OEM Spoiler and Door Skirt.
- Electric Vehicle and Battery Applications-Silver. DALB Inc., Kearneysville, W.Virginia, for the Car Grille.

“This year’s parts competition was especially impressive, as we had 31 entries, the most in recent memory,” notes Travis Kieffer, 2023 SPE Thermoforming Parts Competition Chair. “We received more than 10 entries alone for our new Sustainability category.”
“The quality and diversity of the entries was also notable,” he adds. “We think the innovation and technology on display was the best yet, and it shows that the plastics thermoforming industry is stronger than ever.”
