Interactive Injection and Automation Display
Boy Machine will let users select a variety of trade fair giveaways to automatically fill a gift box molded at its stand.
Dr. Boy GmbH & Co. KG will prompt visitors to its booth to actively participate in the production process. At the show, a Boy 60 E VV will mold polypropylene (PP) gift boxes, while visitors can individually select givewaways to fill it. The integrated automation cell from Gosewehr Robot Automation GmbH on the rear machine table of the Boy 60 E VV then fills the Boy gift boxes with the desired trade fair freebies.
To accomplish this the Boy 60 E VV’s control as well as the control of the Gosewehr linear handling and Stäubli AG 6-axis robots, must communicate with the camera-based parts-identification system to ensure the boxes are filled correctly.
In the process, after the insertion of an in-mold-film and molding of the box, the boxes are removed from the press via the Gosewehr linear handling system and transferred to a 6-axis robot, with the open gift box turned and placed with the opening upwards.
Depending on what’s requested by visitor at the input terminal, either the linear handling or the 6-axis robot will select a wine spout with decanting function, chocolates or egg cups, to fill the gift box.
Before the 6-axis robot removes the articles, a camera determines the position and orientation of the articles and, if necessary, corrects it via a vibrating plate. The six-axis robot then removes the items selected by the visitor from the respective storage boxes and places them into the gift box, which is closed by the 6-axis robot. If they want, trade fair visitors can also have their gift boxes individually labelled at the booth of Boy’s show partner ReaJet Elektronik GmbH. Over the eight days of the show, Boy estimates that it will give out more than 5000 filled gift boxes.
At K 2022, Boy machines will allow visitor to select the freebies they want to fill a gift box molded at the company’s stand.
