“This milestone in material innovation reflects our commitment to help craft vehicles that excel in both performance and sustainability,” says Alexandre Martin, LyondellBasell business development manager. “The development of Hostacom TYC 2463F E2 foaming material underscores our dedication to pushing the boundaries of material science while meeting the stringent demands of our automotive industry stakeholders.”
Hostacom foaming material is manufactured using LyondellBasell catalyst technology to enhance the rheology of the PP polymer matrix.
According to LyondellBasell, the key benefits of this Hostacom grade include:
- High flowability, expanded processing window and excellent melt strength to ensure optimal cell structure in foamed parts.
- Significant weight savings using LYB PP compounds with a chemical blowing agent in core back technology.
- The semiductile nature of the material broadens its use in various interior trim parts, offering a versatile and sustainable solution.
“The collaboration between Renault, LYB (LyondellBasell) and Antolin has yielded a game-changing solution,” says Nathalie Etienne-Morange, door-panel component leader at Renault. “The integration of this foamed material in the new Renault Rafale represents a pivotal achievement in our quest for innovation and sustainability within automotive design.”
