E-Z Lok says its solid-wall threaded inserts can repair or reinforce threaded holes in soft metals like aluminum, magnesium and cast iron. External threads are standard size and pitch, enabling installation via standard drills and taps. The solid-wall threaded inserts can be installed with a screwdriver, bolt/jam nut — except for the IC series — or an optional power-drive tool.
The pre-applied adhesive begins to set immediately upon installation, so the inserts will not back out or vibrate loose, with newly installed inserts said to be fastener ready in just 3-5 minutes. If required, however, E-Z Lok solid-wall threaded inserts for metal can be removed with a bolt extractor or by heating the insert to a temperature above 300°F (149°C), at which point the adhesive will release.
E-Z Lok inserts are available in thin, standard and extra-heavy wall designs, as well as screw locking and automotive models. The inserts come in carbon and stainless steel, with the stainless steel threaded inserts suited for applications requiring corrosion resistance, as well as in food, beverage and other clean-critical applications.
Assortment kits feature inserts in a variety of sizes and provide convenient storage. The installation kits are specifically designed to make threaded insert applications and repairs as simple as possible, featuring a drill, tap and installation tool.
