Milliken Starts Production of New PP Clarifier Plant
Milliken’s Blacksburg, S.C., plant will allow company to double production of Millad NX 8000.
Milliken & Company has started up production of its new PP clarifier plant in Blacksburg, S.C., which will globally enhance access to its industry workhorse Millad NX 8000 additive. The company plans to reach full operating capacity by year’s end, which will boost Millad production by 50%, according to Cindy Boiter, president of Milliken’s Chemical Business. Announced earlier this year, “this represents the largest clarifier plant investment in Milliken history,” she noted.
Millad NX 8000 provides PP with glass-like clarity enabling its use in applications such as thin-wall packaging. It helps reduce carbon emissions by enabling converters to lower their energy use during processing while also improving production efficiency, particularly key during this period of unparalleled spikes in energy prices. Also, these certified energy savings allow brand owners using PP clarified with Millad NX 8000 ECO to display the much-desired UL Environmental Claim Validation label on their injection-molded parts.
